Though this is touted as a quiet dehumidifier, it is not. The sound meter registered a solid 70db+ when it is running (very loud). It is the loudest dehumidifier I've ever used (I bought 2 units based on its "quiet" description and reviews, but they both sound very loud). I also had an instance where it iced up completely with a 1/2 inch thick ice sheet covering the entire backside of the cooling unit. This really should not happen as it is brand new. It does remove the moisture from the air effectively as it should. Overall, I do not recommend this dehumidifier. The noise is driving me crazy.
This dehumidifier roars ! It’s the furthest thing from a “whisperer” you could imagine. Also, it could use a spout or a lip or anything to make emptying it less sloppy.
First of all, if this unit operated as it should, I would like it quite well. I like that it has antibacterial protection, since dehumidifiers can get nasty so quickly. The size was right for my space. And the first time I used it, the noise level was decent.
Unfortunately, it quickly degraded from the first use. It got very noisy. But, more importantly, the decompressor stopped engaging. So I found that when I had it set to a temperature, rather than to continuous, it simply was not engaging the Decompressor, or it was very rarely engaging it, even though it was reading quite a high humidity and was in a high humidity space.
However, it seemed to work on the continuous setting. And I didn’t mind using it on the continuous setting and just turning it off manually when desired, so I thought I would try to do that for the next week. For several days of on and off use that worked, but then the Decompressor stopped engaging at all, even in high humidity. The unit seem to be on but was only making the fan noise, not the Decompressor noise. And when I checked the bucket after many hours, it was bone dry despite high humidity.
One thing that wasn’t working on the unit from the very start was the timer. For me, the timer was very key to the use of this machine simply because the machine has such a tiny bucket. I was planning to use this in my bedroom and couldn’t afford to be awakened by the beep to go empty the bucket, so I was planning to set the timer for the amount of time that I knew it could run without the bucket quite filling. Then I would just empty it when I got up to go to the bathroom and turn it back on again. But even though the timer light came on, and I set it for the number I wanted, it would just run right past that number.
Another feature of this unit which some people will appreciate and other people will dislike is that the fan does continue to run even when the decompressor is not engaged (from too low humidity) or after the bucket full has gone off. Now some might see this as a plus insofar as it makes the transition and noises less jarring. Others will see that as a negative on account of it using some energy. I can’t see the point of it continuing to go after the bucket full beeps, because that beep will have already caused a jarring noise. It makes more sense to me for it to continue running after low humidity has been reached. That way, it can continue to pull air in to be reading the humidity, and it makes for less of a noise transition. But for it to continue running after the bucket full beep has happened doesn’t make sense to me . However, the fan really uses very little energy compared to the decompressor. So that is a minor point.
Basically, even though this quickly almost immediately stopped operating as it should and even though the timer never worked, I thought I would still be able to get some use out of it. But then the decompressor stopped engaging at all. Thankfully, this site arranged for a refund for me.
Honestly, if this unit had a larger bucket, and preferably, if its pints per day were more powerful (the 30 pint rating is for the 2019 standard, so it’s a lower rating yet by the 2024 standard), I would be interested in trying for a non-lemon model. But I already knew the small bucket was going to be an issue to work around, and this unit arrived with so many problems that I decided not to get a replacement, sadly.
This company is wonderful to purchase from, however.
I've not even had this unit 1 year and it's showing code EH - sensor not working. This product only has a 90 day warranty and I can't even order a spare part. Very disappointing as I have 2 other units which are still working great. Customer service could not help in any way. I will not be ordering here again.
This is an effective dehumidifier that fits on my limited counter easily. It works incredibly well. It is NOT silent. Orientation to walls and the surface it is on seems to effect noise level. I have two and one sounds a lot louder than the other.
